POSITION TITLE: Volunteer Coordinator
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
STATUS: Full-time
REPORTS TO: Director of Hospitality

JOB SUMMARY

The Volunteer Coordinator will train and empower volunteers to provide a 5-star experience for each guest that comes to CBC for our weekend services, membership class, baptism weekend, and first-time guest experience. The coordinator must represent all pillars of the CBC Way (honor, hospitality, high capacity, hustle, and humility).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Continuously seek new ways to improve our Volunteer System to ensure an excellent visit by all visitors and members
  • Recruit and oversee volunteers for hospitality, along with, Ushers/Greeters, GPS Team, Parking Attendants, Central Team, and Host Team
  • Develop a volunteer process that includes maintaining a database of all open volunteer positions across all ministries and ensures volunteers are followed up in a timely manner
  • Maintain a database of potential volunteers with their skills and spiritual gifts
  • Develop and manage the process to match volunteers with positions and evaluate the results
  • Construct a training program that outlines the requirements for the volunteers (includes both CBC general volunteer expectations as well as specific position training)
  • Organize Volunteer appreciation and training day events
  • Supervises the weekend activities of the hospitality volunteers and provides volunteers with the skills training to provide value-added service to customers
  • Answer inquiries pertaining to Church policies and services and resolve any complaints and concerns in a courteous and efficient manner, following through to make sure problems are resolved satisfactorily
  • Attend worship regularly and special services/events as appropriate
  • Maintain personal accountability and relationships with staff members
  • Maintain daily disciplines of Bible study, prayer, and preparation
  • Other duties as assigned

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position. All weekend services will be required (Saturday & Sunday) with additional planning/operation hours scheduled during the week in-office Monday – Thursday.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to do the following:

  • Must have good or corrected vision as well as effective peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Must have good manual dexterity and be able to use repetitive motion of the hands and arms
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to move about inside the office and file rooms to perform a variety of tasks
  • Must be able to frequently and effectively communicate in both written and verbal form
  • Must be able to frequently lift 15 pounds and/or push/pull objects up to 50 pounds
  • Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members at all levels of the organization

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school education, GED, or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working within Guest Services, Hospitality or Retail required, preferably in a large Church environment, but not required

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Duties are performed in an office setting where the work and general environment may be fast-paced and hectic at times. Therefore, it is essential that the employee can effectively handle the normal anxieties associated with the job and manage multiple projects in a service-oriented environment. Environmental noise levels are minimal.
