This part-time position is responsible for intermediate level clerical support and interpretation services for Chester County Health Department’s Nurse-Family Partnership program. Be part of a dynamic team that makes a difference in the lives of first-time pregnant and parenting families. Services include both home visits and telehealth. We are seeking a customer service-oriented team member, fluent in spoken and written English and Spanish languages, to provide clerical support, interpretation and translation. Applicant most also possess skills for data entry, word processing, Outlook mail and basic spreadsheets.

The computer competent person filling this position will have demonstrated proficient bilingual ability in both English and Spanish languages and a High School diploma. The flexibility to work some late afternoon hours is required. A reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license is required. Mileage is reimbursed in accordance with County policy. Part-time employment up to 1,000 hours/year. Weekday hours.

Pennsylvania Child Abuse History, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History, and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal History Clearances are required.

A criminal background check is required.

Essential Duties

  • Provide Interpretation service as required for Home Visiting Nurses, Communicable Disease Clinical Programs and other activities including public information requiring Interpretation support.
  • Perform written translations of CCHD educational materials and letters.
  • Make phone calls to Spanish speaking clients to schedule visits or make clinic appointments, as necessary.
  • Perform data entry to support Home Visiting and Communicable Disease Clinical Programs and other Program services activities, as needed.
  • Perform data entry in support of immunizations which may include the PA-SIIS data base.
  • Provide support to the immunization program by staffing the client intake room when assigned.
  • Provide cashier services (cash, checks, receipts, reconcile petty cash) as required.
  • Provide clerical support in all program services and outreaches, as needed.
  • Perform other typing, data entry and clerical support as required, e.g. prepare and distribute lists, transcription, maintain statistical data, proofreading, typing, filing, copying, fax processing paperwork, etc.
  • Deliver Direct Observed Therapy (DOT) doses to TB patients as assigned and having completed required orientation.
  • Accurately maintain databases, logs and spreadsheets.
  • Prepare departmental activity reports
  • Filing and indexing (locate and pull files, re-file, update and maintain records).
  • Maintain and order supplies.
  • Provide receptionist relief or coverage for customer service duties (e.g. answer phones, make outgoing calls, direct calls, greet visitors etc.); sort and distribute incoming mail.
  • Perform other duties, tasks and office functions, as assigned (e.g., attend meetings, facilitate meetings, special projects as assigned (e.g., research, training, run errands, etc.)
  • Receptionist/customer service duties (answer phones, make outgoing calls, direct calls, greet visitors).
  • Typing and data entry (prepare and distribute lists, transcription, maintain statistical data, proofreading).
  • Take and transcribe meeting minutes.
  • Clerical duties (fax, copy, print, etc.).
  • Maintain databases, logs and spreadsheets.
  • Sort and distribute incoming mail.
  • Maintain and order supplies.
  • Filing and indexing (locate and pull files, re-file, update and maintain records).

Qualifications/Preferred Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Bilingual English/Spanish language skills with the ability to fully speak, read and write both languages.
  • Intermediate skills in using a personal computer and various software packages
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong typing skills (minimum of 50 wpm).
  • Ability to use office machines (fax, copier, calculator, etc.).
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong grammar and spelling skills.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure,
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Flexibility.
  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of county management

Preferred Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with courses in Office Administration, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of one year of general office experience
