Overview

As the Senior Brand Journalist- Social Media (Remote), you will be responsible for overseeing the company’s social media channels as well as investigating, writing, and editing creative relevant stories and social media posts in multiple media formats. The main role is to identify, develop and investigate stories for internal and external audiences and create and execute a robust and comprehensive social media strategy. In this position, you will coordinate all social media functions within the organization and provide a leadership role in aligning and managing a cross-functional social media team, ensuring consistency in branding and messaging to TDS customers.

Duties include coordinating with the customer relations, marketing, and communications teams on a comprehensive social media strategy, developing engaging social media campaigns and content that promotes the company’s brand and products, and creating social media responses. The position also will write internal stories and contribute to external communications efforts.

In this role, you must have significant experience and demonstrated success in running multiple social media channels and stay up on current industry trends and tools as well as understand and be able to stay relevant with your audience. This means keeping prospects, customers, and employees informed, providing information, participating in discussions, as well as keeping up to date with trending topics in the media and telecom industry and trying to have TDS participate in those conversations. Driving quality social media followers will be a key measure of success in this position.

Other duties include overseeing the social media editorial calendar and assisting in the coordination of the editorial content calendar.

This position has the ability to work out of a home office anywhere in the 40+ states in which TDS operates; however, preference will be given to candidates located within Wisconsin. The salary range for this position starts at $65,000.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a social media strategy that addresses multiple challenges, coordinate with other company departments to establish a uniform company message on social media channels.
  • Write and edit stories in multiple media formats. Identify, develop, and investigate stories to share with both internal and external audiences.
  • Uncover unique and interesting stories for multiple audiences
  • Monitor news for timely stories that TDS can participate in online
  • Prepare and conduct interviews with subject matter experts
  • Develop, write, and edit articles with exceptional grammar
  • Assist in managing editorial calendar, coordinating time-sensitive articles with general-interest stories
  • Understand and adhere to copyright law for print and photography
  • Be an engaged and motivated team member. Helping us build an editorial-styled department of brand journalists.
  • Find photography and graphics to compliment stories, adhering to copyright laws.

Qualifications

Required Qualifcations

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) -OR- 4+ years professional work experience.
  • 2+ years’ experience writing both journalistic style and corporate communications or associate communications.
  • 2+ years’ experience in managing social media communications for a business or non-profit.
  • 2+ years’ experience with a variety of content forms, social media, video, podcasts, and ability to integrate text, still images, blogs, audio, and video.

  • Skills to develop a social media calendar – Using Hootsuite and other organizational tools.
  • Skills to develop social media content like graphics and videos – Using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or other software/online tools.
  • Skills to assist in coordinating editorial calendar – Using Excel, Microsoft Teams, or SharePoint.
  • Ability to integrate diverse needs and priorities into cohesive plans and strategies.
  • Expert understanding of employee communications and corporate communications.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation and decision-making skills.
  • Strong customer focus and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse employee population.
