JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibility
- Respond to Customer requests in a timely and thorough fashion.
- Train and supervise appropriated staffing to maintain quality assurance.
- Develop and maintain an appropriate annual department budget.
- Develop and maintain a quality systems manual, which will assure product and process compliance.
- Coordinate quality system audits to adhere to as TSI 16949 Guidelines.
- Supply monthly corporate measurable for designated areas. Include action plans and close issues.
- Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformance relating to product, process and quality systems.
- Monitor existing vendor supply base performance.
- Interface with customers and suppliers when required.
- Support engineering efforts to develop, maintain and improve products to meet Customer expectations.
- Analyze scrap and defect data for trends and refinement needs.
- Actively contribute and participate in staff meetings and programs.
- Has the authority to stop the production process if a safety or quality concern is noticed.
- Other job duties and special projects as deemed necessary by the Plant Manager.
- Actively supports plant safety efforts through departmental participation in safety meetings and safety walks.
- Engages in safe practices as well as follows and enforces safety rules and job rotations.
- Must be willing to report unsafe conditions, reporting unsafe acts, participating in safety/ergonomic committees, participating in safety kaizen events, participating in Blue Sky initiatives, participating in safety audits and safety observation feedback.
- Assist the plant in achieving safety goals and maintaining Safe Workplace and Environmental and Sustainability AMS objectives.
- Initiate timely investigations of all reported incidents/accidents and injuries for the department and completion of 8d’s (including the 5 Why’s, root cause, containment and corrective action). May assist other departments with this process as well.
- Attend required training and participation in safety and ergonomic meetings as assigned.
- Conduct Monthly Safety Inspections as assigned.
- Will follow and promote environmental management system compliance and commitment to resource conservation.
- Review and understand Customer Specific Requirements.
Preferred Education / Experience / Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and five (5) years related experience. Related experience, training, education or some combination of all three may be considered.
- Quality engineering experience in the automotive industry.
- Certified Six Sigma black belt or green belt preferred.
- Experience with ISO, TS or other Quality Management System.
- Experience writing quality plans, procedures, PFMEA’s and control plans.
- ASQ Certifications: CMI, CQT, CQE, CQA and CRE.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Effective and professional communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and general public.
- Demonstrate leadership skills and ability to provide direction effectively as required.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Must have ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Must be computer literate and familiar with appropriate software programs and have the ability to create visual aids for communication purposes.
