Summary:
A Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the overall quality of fluid power products. Responsible for facilitating processes and procedures to ensure optimum quality during the workflow process.
Responsibilities:
- Investigate, problem solve and answer quality concerns.
- Perform product analysis to determine root cause of failure and create evaluation reports specifying methods and findings.
- Review & coordinate corrective actions to verify resolution with leadership.
- Lead/Develop/Use Key Process Indicators (KPI’s) to determine process effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, and continuous quality improvement.
- Perform analysis of reports and production data to identify trends and recommend updates to changes to the Quality System Regulations, Standards, and/or guideline procedures.
- Review designs, changes, and plans of specifications and processes.
- Keep plant personnel informed of quality related issues, as well as promote quality awareness throughout the company.
- Provide a presence on the production floor and develop positive relationships with manufacturing personnel.
- Participate in lean initiatives, including 6 Sigma, CIA’s, 5S, and standardized work. Suggest, document, and implement ideas to increase quality.
- Assist in developing and implementing quality management systems.
- Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data, while making recommendations.
- Maintain and improve ISO system, facilitate review meetings, schedule internal and external ISO audits.
- Perform regular quality control audits to ensure vendors continue to work in compliance with company and federal standards.
- Review incoming supplies and products from vendors to check for defects and ensure quality.
- Collaborate with Purchasing department to determine viability of vendors.
- Conduct tests and assessments on products to identify quality issues.
- Maintain detailed reports on supplier quality, including defect rates and areas that result in flaws.
- Provide technical advice and guidance to suppliers to reduce defect rates.
- Serve as a liaison between senior management and vendors to identify quality issues and come up with solutions.
- Lead and facilitate PFMEA teams on new product and process improvements.
- Interact with customer quality systems by creating or obtaining required quality documentation (PPAP submission, ECN, PPM/rejections, etc…)
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Quality, Mechanical or Industrial engineering.
- 5+ years’ related experience in a quality engineer, or quality assurance position.
- Knowledge of ISO standards.
- ASQC certification as CMI, CQT, CQA, CQE, CRE, and or CQM preferred.
- Able to problem solve, multitask and prioritize.
- Knowledge of MSA – Training required.
- Able to analyze problems and gather results.
