The Quality Assurance Manager (QAM) is responsible for ensuring all company products meet consumer expectations and demands. Specific daily duties for this position include inspecting products to ensure conformity throughout the production process. Where products fail to meet quality standards, the quality manager is responsible for rejecting the product and documenting the reasons why it failed to meet the quality standards set. Additional Root Cause Analysis is conducted to identify the source of errors and take corrective measures.

The Quality Assurance Manager is in charge of supervising the manufacturing process to make sure that all products meet consistent standards. Their duties include developing and implementing quality control tests, inspecting products at various stages and writing reports documenting production issues.

The QAM is responsible for training their staff to recognize defects and imperfections at all stages of the manufacturing and packaging process to uphold consistent quality standards. The QAM communicates expectations to staff and observes production processes to identify the causes of common types of mistakes or defects. He/she researches ways to limit human error on the production line and track the impact of different policies on defective parts. Throughout the production process, the QAM maintains close contact with customers to ensure 100% customer satisfaction.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Develops and maintain quality standards and check procedures throughout the facility.

· Develops a tracking system for quality issues and implement improvements.

· Implement and oversee an incoming inspection program of purchased materials and components.

· Obtains analyzes, and coordinates corrective action, on significant deviations from quality standards. Effectively communicates relevant information to the management team.

· Participates in the review of all design, manufacturing, purchasing, and test documentation & procedures to ensure that the customers quality requirements are met, both for current and new customers.

· Strives for continuous improvement in overall defect-reduction, monitors defect-reduction procedure effectiveness, and implements appropriate adjustments.

· Communicates with customer representative for quality related issues and concerns via email or through customer specific portals. Timely communicates with customers on open or pending actions items.

· Ensures that supplier quality problems are investigated, trends are tracked, and issues resolved.

· Establishes and tracks departmental goals and objectives that provide world-class quality and technical services performance to the organization.

· Collaborates with the upper management team to set quality benchmark

· Creates standards in accordance with industry standards and customer expectations

· Identifies quality control processes to ensure criteria are always met

· Executes tests to check final product adherence to the company standards

· Records findings and relay this information to the production team

· Brainstorms ideas to increase productivity and performance of the production line while maintaining accuracy in quality

· Makes crucial decisions in favor of cost-efficiency without compromising on quality

· Oversees production to ensure conformity in final product processing

· Implements methods to inspect, test and evaluate products and production equipment

· Ensures that products adhere to quality standards

· Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data

· Works according to deadlines for the delivery of products

· Trains production line staff in manufacturing practices and quality assessment of goods

· Tracks products through the manufacturing process to guarantee that each part of the process is correct

· Performs detailed and recorded inspections of final products so the products are up to industry and company standards

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

· Experience in production and/or manufacturing, especially working with assembly line processes. Must be knowledgeable of furniture manufacturing processes

· Self-starter that can identify improvements and implement them with limited direction.

· Excellent written and verbal communications skills, along with exceptional interpersonal skills.

· Focused and attentive to details.

· Able to function with interruptions and deadlines.

· Analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills to review systems, find flaws and pose solutions to those flaws

· Ability to handle stress

· Ability to operate under deadlines while still meeting standards

· Strong organizational skills with ability to handle multiple priorities. Prior experience as a quality manager in a furniture production environment

· Familiar with company and industry quality standards and processes

· Proficient in computer technology and systems

· Good understanding of Microsoft Office applications

· Ability to positively influence others

· Great team player with strong interpersonal skills

· Directing and ensuring top service for internal/external customers

· Developing performance goals and objectives to ensure accuracy, quality and customer expectations are met

· Maintain health and safety standards within the manufacturing center and promote a positive health and safety culture onsite

Minimum Qualifications

· 5+ years of experience in quality control, preferably within the furniture or cabinet industry.

· Experience with or strong knowledge of furniture manufacturing processes.
