We are currently seeking a Premium Reconciliation Specialist to work in our Payroll Premium Billing team. To be successful in the role, you need to have excellent written and verbal communication skills, excel in problem resolution and customer service and have an understanding of the insurance billing process. You will be working in a deadline-driven environment where follow-up and accountability are crucial to the role. This is a hybrid position 2 days on-site and 3 days remote.

Objective: The primary responsibility of this position is to process complex premium payments in a timely and accurate manner, resolve most types of complex billing issues with little supervision, process requests for administrative work for all lines of business and provide assistance to internal and external customers, staff, management and other departments, as necessary.

Responsibilities include:

  • Processes and reconciles premium payments with a high level of complexity at an employee policy level accurately and within company guidelines.
  • Resolves billing issues by providing options with internal/external customers and clients while maintaining the highest level of customer service.
  • Proactively monitors accounts to resolve exceptions, review past-due accounts and reconciles monies in suspense accounts.
  • Researches suspense account discrepancies and provides corrective options and audits complex accounts with a focus on timely resolution.
  • Resolves issues identified by other departments
  • Collaborates effectively with billing teams ensuring premium(s) are processed timely and accurately.
  • Act as a resource/subject matter expert with training and mentoring of existing staff and participates in the onboarding of new members within the premium billing reconciliation specialist function.
  • Perform other duties and projects, as required.

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of banking, premium reconciliation, billing or accounting experience is required.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office, including Access, Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of payment process methods is required.
  • Experience working with a mainframe or other billing application system (i.e., Groupfacts/Claimfacts, etc.) is preferred.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to work with all departments regarding matters related to premium reconciliation duties and responsibilities.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks independently to accomplish goals required.
  • Strong team player and the ability to work and handle change is required.
