Fluence Analytics is a New Orleans and Houston based startup company that delivers patented measurement products, data analytics, and automation technologies in the $1 trillion per year polymer industry and the $160 billion per year biopharma industry. Our core technologies measurably and reliably impact our customers production efficiency, R&D, safety, and profitability.

The successful material engineer has worked directly with instrumentation, analyzers, or other complex equipment in academic/industrial environments, either in R&D or as a technical sales representative or has equivalent relevant experience. This individual is highly motivated, combining strong analytical skills, intuitive scientific knowledge, especially polymer/materials characterization, and business expertise, and is willing to go above and beyond to get things done. Experience working with customers and the ability to relate their processes needs back to ACOMP (Automatic Continuous Online Monitoring of Polymerization reactions) is very important. Background in chemical engineering, chemistry, physics, materials engineering/science, polymer science/engineering, instrumentation, or mechanical engineering is the potential attribute of our ideal candidate. A great fit for this position has excellent written and verbal communication skills and is very good at interacting with multiple teams within Fluence and with external stakeholders and customers. This position, working at a fast-paced startup, is ideal for a self-motivated individual looking for a challenge, a lot of responsibility, autonomy, and willingness to pitch in where needed. Great hands-on experience with polymerization reactions is a plus.

Fluence in the Press:

What You Will Get To Do

APPLICATIONS ENGINEERING – Hands-on polymerization reactions/testing of new applications, along with instrumentation troubleshooting and support of company products for permanent or trial projects, working closely with development and field engineering teams on multiple projects at once. Developing protocols for validating any release of upgraded RTex and validating RTex latest versions. Reaction data/statistical analysis.

DOCUMENTATION – Works closely with the customer and/or their engineering team to establish the value proposition of the ACOMP system to their production line. Works closely with engineering and manufacturing team to plan the execution of builds, installations, and startups with customers. Documents all aspects of work. Generates reports on reactions to being possibly forwarded to customers, as well as documentation of customer interactions.

CUSTOMER RELATIONS – Work closely with CEO and CCO on remote (and on-site) meetings with future and current clients, working on understanding their processes and reactions to translate applications, viability, and value of the ACOMP system to them. Documentation of customer interactions and resolve issues. Work with the development and field engineering teams on training and/or designing solutions to customers’ problems.

PRODUCT ENGINEERING – Continuously work to add valuable functionality to ACOMP-RTex and establish a roadmap for that, and validate analysis algorithms for accuracy. Continuously work to improve ACOMP-RTex analyses and algorithms. Meet with clients throughout the different projects to understand their specific process needs and establish how ACOMP can be useful for them. Present at conferences on the ACOMP system, likely working closely with Yokogawa on presenting the technology as needed. Role requires extended (up to 80%) travel domestically and (possibly) internationally.
