Position Overview:

The Air Export Agent, day-to-day responsibilities are quoting and routing freight, tracking shipments, troubleshooting, and overcoming operational challenges as well as assisting local sales and global offices with air export matters. This position will be responsible for controlling international freight forwarding shipments into the USA across all modes of transport per customer request. The primary focus is providing a high-level of excellent and quality customer service to all customers and vendors.

What You Will Be Doing Day-to-Day:

  • Receive documentation from shippers, customer
  • Review, verify shipping documents
  • Develop and provide shipping solutions to customers/agents
  • Responsible to ensure all documentation for export is available: Schedule B numbers for the preparation of filling the Shipper’s Export Declaration (SED) via the Automated Export System (AES)
  • Maintain contact with customers by phone or in person and receives orders for processing, delivery, discontinuance, or change in service.
  • Issue formal quotation and follow up on these with customer and or agent
  • Performs contract review, determines charges for service requested
  • Documents exports by preparing bills of lading/AWB’s, export declarations, certificates of origin and related documents
  • Exports product by verifying conformity of filled orders and documentation with letters of credit, foreign export licenses, U.S. and foreign government regulations.
  • Verifies entered customer account data
  • Communication with airlines/ocean carrier vendors to book, monitor and manage shipments
  • Respond to customer and agent questions related to current shipments and expedite shipment as necessary.
  • Cargo claim processing and billing
  • Pharma/Cold chain experience is a PLUS **DG certified is an advantage**

Other Skills We Hope to See:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 2-3 years’ preferred industry experience in export operations
  • Working knowledge of Freight Forwarder International Operations including: Basic IATA/NVOCC, FAA, TSA, Export Regulations, AES and General CBP knowledge
  • Cargo-wise experience a plus! Knowledge of working within government vertical a bonus!
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to multi-task in a high volume, fast-paced working environment
  • High attention to detail and strong organizing skills
  • Ability to be detailed with analytical attributes
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment
  • Ability to problem solving to resolutions meeting the customers’ needs
