How can NGO’s foster local engagement?

unnamed

Cultivating community participation is crucial to the success of any NGO’s mission. Without local support and buy-in, organizations waste their time on proposed, but unsustainable solutions. Yesterday I was joined by two development leaders who truly understand the strategies for local engagement, Lauren Burke of Atlas: DIY and Scott Warren of Generation Citizen. We discusssed the significance of asking communities what they want or need, whether the services provided are working, and most importantly, how we can do better. Hear how Lauren and Scott have learned to adjust their program design to fit community needs and the strategies that have been most effective at empowering individuals to take action in these highlights from the third episode of The New Narrative.
