Monday Inspiration: Jose Antonio Vargas and "Define American"

The world of organizations focusing on immigrant issues in the U.S. is expanding and Atlas: DIY is so thrilled to see Define American, a new non profit started by pulitzer prize winner and undocumented immigrant Antonio Antonio Vargas, join the ranks.

Jose’s introduction video on his website is today’s Monday inspiration, making us want to jump up and yell hurrah and believe in the change we all want to see happen. Especially galvanizing are the stories of those teachers and administrators who changed Jose’s life by accepting him for who he is.

Tomorrow night Jose will be speaking at the event “Dream Activists and the Immigrant Rights Movement.” Most of the Atlas board will be in attendance and we hope to see those of you in NYC there are well!

PS. If you haven’t yet, check out Jose’s article in the NYTimes, “coming out” as undocumented, published earlier this year.
