Welcome Back to the Inside Scoops of Atlas:DIY.
Two important things on our agenda are:
The Sparkplug Foundation funds grassroots type of organizing. Lauren and Brendan has worked hard on the proposal. We had a successful phone interview. Now, we are on the next level. Our application was mailed in a couple of days ago. We are keeping our fingers crossed, as this grant will help Atlas at its first steps of organizing. Wish us luck!
The Atlas:DIY Tag Sale was a great demonstration of our teamwork, enthusiasm, and hard work. We had everything from dresses and books to ponies and TVs. We also had raffles for Crunch Gym membership and an entire basket of goodies from Chelsea Wine Vault. The Atlas Team set up bright and early. Several friends came to help, chat, and buy some items. Atlas attracted a lot interested from the local people. When we discussed our plans about developing immigrant youth, they enthusiastically bought items and donated!
Half way through the Tag Sale on Saturday, it began to rain. But, we thought positively and sent happy vibrations to stop the rain. It worked and our sale lasted till 6 PM! On Sunday however, we were forced to cancel our Tag Sale because of the pouring rain. Some people stopped by and we raised more despite the rain. Altogether, we raised $1700!! Hooray for Atlas!
